We have recently been involved in a project to restore a large detached Victorian Villa, near Wilmslow Cheshire. The six bedroom house set in 5 acres of grounds dates from the 1880's and sadly most of the original features had been removed. The sympathetic restoration has turned it back into a fine period property with modern finishes in areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms.
The house has a large entrance hall with grand staircase leading up to a galleried landing on the first floor, for the hall and also the main reception rooms downstairs, a large plain modillion block plaster cornice was chosen XLPC005, this is a large plaster cornice but with ceiling heights of around 11 feet, it looks perfectly in proportion.
We often hear from customers who have been told you can not put plaster coving around a bay window, as you can see from the pictures the plaster coving has been fitted around three bay windows of different sizes. It is perfectly possible to fit plaster coving around any bay window if you know what you are doing.
Upstairs on the main landing Large Swan Coving LPC017 has been chosen, this is a classic Victorian coving design, and in this size with a drop of 145mm and a projection of 210 mm, fits perfectly with 10 foot ceilings and restores the Victorian proportions and feel to the area.
At the present time the plaster coving has only been primed, we will add more pictures showing how the plaster coving is transformed once it is decorated.
